Cancer
Introduction
All living beings are composed of organs, tissues and cells
and cells are composed of various components such as cell membrane, nucleus, ribosome,
cytoplasm etc. During development and maintenance of body these cells
disintegrate, new cells are generated, by mitosis and meiosis processes.
While new cells are formed number, size etc., are maintained
to keep normalcy of tissue and organs. However sometimes due to mutations some
cells are generated abnormally thus forming abnormal growth of cells, tissues which
are absolutely non-essential and complicate physiological functions. This
abnormal growth of new cells is known as neoplasm. When these cells are limited
and non-proliferated it is called Benign and if cells are proliferated without
sustaining growth and spreads irregularly in the body it is called Malignance/
Cancer.
Since these caner growths are irregular, spreads
similar to a Snake pit, Cancer is called Valmika/Puttru (Snake pit)noi in
Ayurveda/SIddha medicine.
